Small Farmers. Big Change.
Heremala Ronmedo Quisana, a coffee farmer and member of CEPICAFE Cooperative.
The connection between food and real farming communities is hard to find these days. Food seems to simply appear, with no ties to the land or the farmers who grew it. While agribusiness continues to strengthen its grip on the food industry, farmers become increasingly vulnerable in corporate hands – because the system is stacked against them. But it doesn’t have to be that way.
At Equal Exchange, we believe a better system is possible. Done differently, food can actually rebuild relationships between people. So, we buy our foods directly from co-operatives of small-scale farmers who have passion for growing the best food, caring for the earth, and keeping farming communities alive.
